petit plume photoshoot: the location

While looking for a place to do hair and makeup, Genie found Atilano, an art gallery and hair salon located in Santa Ana's Artist's Village. The bright colors and busy walls had my eyes darting back and forth from the countless paintings hanging from the walls (and ceilings), the glizty cabinets, mismatchy furniture, and artfully placed jewelry.

I was able to chat with the man, Atilano, himself (after he returned from buying cheese and crackers for the girls and I to munch on as we worked...wow.) and soon discovered that everything in his gallery was either inherited or treasures he's found in random antique stores... and that all the paintings and art pieces in his salon were his creations (wow again).

Atilano does a 9/11 painting every year. This one's been in the works for 3 months (4 more months of work to go says Atilano)

Most of the items in here are for sale. They've got an array of jewelry, hats, accessories, and a small rack of hand picked vintage finds. The gallery is beautiful and the alley way behind it turned out to be a great photo spot. I'll be making the occasional pit stop here to see what new paintings the down to earth artist has whipped up.

  1. I love stores like that- where every where you look there's something different and eye catching- so cool that you got to style such a fun photo shoot- can't wait to see the end result :)
