Looking at the Wednesday pictures all together is so fun! They make me want to jump on an airplane, head west (and south) and visit all these places. Ya know...stalk some bison, go hiking, hold my friends' newborn babies (!), eat some southeast Asian grub...
I like how each of their personalities really do come through in their pictures...they're amazing. Regular programming will resume next week. :)

leftovers
Kimbap is best eaten within a few hours of it being made; very best when eaten right after it's made with hot rice and a crisp seaweed sheet. I've been craving this a lot these days, but I always end up with leftovers...which are hard to save and eat the next day. Stick it in the fridge, and the rice gets hard; leave it out and the marinated veggies will start to turn.
Anyways, these delicious little things will never have to go to waste again thanks to this 'recipe,' courtesy of my big sister currently living in Korea.
2) Lightly grease a pan and cook kimbap for a 1-2 minutes on each side. Depending on how much oil you put in you pan, you might have to roll the sides on the pan to cook evenly.

subway stories
I met an old man in Korea. And by met (in this case), I mean watched/stalked on the subway. Everything about him made me so curious...and he reminded me of Mr. Fredricksen...so I kind of couldn't take my eyes off him.
Imagine...
He wears large square glasses and a pouty mouth--one that looks like he'd been fighting a smile his whole life. He wears a neatly pressed gray suit, black shiny shoes, and a blue tie that matches the bright bakery bag that he clutches closely to him.
He takes out what looks like a slender cake box from his bag and looks at it admiringly, examining it and silently praising its perfection. He gently puts it back in the box.
He pulls out a comb out of his jacket pocket and brushes the neatly combed white hair on his tan, slightly freckled bald head.
The subway doors open and people start to fill in. An unsuspecting, elderly lady takes the seat next to him. He scooches over (annoyed), peers suspiciously from the corner of his eye and clutches his blue bag a little bit closer...
I snapped a picture when the moment was right.....

...or maybe not. Looks like he's looking right at me now. ack!
My mind started to wander at that point...whose this man and what's in that bag?

See: Midnight in Paris
One thing I love about summer is the movies! The relief of a cool theater to escape summer heat, fresh popped popcorn, the anticipation of great movies and summer blockbusters. I continued my streak of good movies (after X-Men and Bridesmaids) with "Midnight in Paris." I didn't hear much hoopla about this one, but I enjoyed it so much. So charming and quirky--typical of a Woody Allen flick I guess. I won't hype it up too much, but I will say that Adrian Brody's role was genius and very well played! I want to see a full-length feature with him in this role.
Smell: White peaches are in season. Yay! They taste as good as they smell. Scrumptious.
Feel: I feel...hot hot heat, and have this nifty bottle pretty much glued to my hand.
And a picture of Pax...just because. He got neutered today and has to wear the cone of shame for 2 weeks. Breaks my heart.
Hear: need some new music...any suggestions?

heirloom tomato bruscetta
This is one of my favorite recipes of all time. The ingredients are simple and it is nearly impossible to get wrong. All you need is:
- 1 16oz box of mini heirloom tomatoes (got mine are from Trader Joe's--love you). This would work with regular tomatoes, but I love the color and sweetness of the mini heirlooms
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoon good quality balsamic vinegar
- 3-4 leaves of basil chopped
- 3-4 cloves of minced garlic
- S+P to taste
1) Chop tomatoes.
2) In a separate bowl, mix balsamic and olive oil. Add garlic, basil and S+P. It's not a lot of liquid, but the tomatoes will add more.
Add chopped tomatoes and S+P if needed. Garnish with a sprig of basil and serve with crackers or crostini.

fun summer nails
Korean people love their polish. And these colors are so fun...I'm copying this idea. Happy weekend!
